Well, whatever the reason is, it is scary to quit and writing a resignation letter is something that you must consider doing. Even if you might feel like you haven’t been fully respected and appreciated at your job, your goal must be to leave on a professional note. 

After all, it’s a reflection only of you and nobody else. 

Writing a resignation letter will help you formalize all of the details and inform your employers of your departure from the company. 

But that doesn’t really help you figure out how to do it, so keep reading as we give some of our best tips on writing a resignation letter. 

What is a Letter of Resignation? 

A letter of resignation is your way of expressing your desire and intention to leave your position at the company. This is the document that finalizes your intention and details of your leaving and could include reasons as to why is that happening. 

This doesn’t have to be a tough process, especially if you learn how to act respectful and write a good resignation letter. 

Before this happens, of course, you should have a one-on-one conversation with your employer, informing them directly of your decision and your plans of resigning. 

The resignation letter is more like a follow-up. Remember, this might become part of your employee file, so it’s of utmost importance to leave a good impression. 

How Do You Write a Resignation Letter? 

This can be a very uncomfortable task, not only because of the fear of change but because it is just hard to let someone know you will be going and have that done in a formal and professional way. 

That’s why we have some tips on how to write a resignation letter. 

  • Short and Sweet – No use in dragging it out. The gist of it is; you are leaving, and there’s nothing they can do to stop you. You don’t have to justify why you are leaving the position at the company. You can provide reasoning but that must be better done in person, while the resignation letter should be short and sweet. 
  • Reasoning – As we have mentioned, this is better done in person, but if you decide to provide some reasons for leaving, like salary-wise, you may even get a counteroffer.
  • Act professional – Nothing worse than acting rude. Just because your current state of mind is set on leaving, it doesn’t mean that you should act unprofessionally. Don’t burn any bridges, and make sure you use a formal and professional language throughout your letter. 
  • Be thankful – At the end of the day, I am sure you have learned a lot on the job, you were given an opportunity and someone took a chance on you (likely over other people). That just deserves a ‘thank you’. 
  • Don’t criticize – Your reasons for leaving might be that your employer hasn’t treated you in a way you expected or thought you deserved to be treated. Still, that won’t justify your criticism of them. Be smart, you may need a letter of recommendation or a reference in the future. 
  • Offer your help in the transitioning period – Leaving your employer high and dry might not be the most professional thing you can do, so if you think that transitioning period might be hard for your employer, offer your help. 
  • Be positive – It’s not the end of the world that you are leaving. Anything that you or your employer have been through won’t matter very soon, so try to leave a positive comment as you should strive to be that type of person. 

What to Include in the Resignation Letter? 

There are some things you must include in your resignation letter. 

  • Your contact information – This is so the company can get in touch with you if they want to further discuss your resignation. 
  • Your Last Day – Every resignation letter should include the last day to work and any other requests or details. This would ease the transition and help your employer be prepared. 

How to Submit Your Resignation Letter

There are not many options here outside of submitting your resignation letter in person, or by email. 

You should be aware that one isn’t necessarily better than the other, and what you decide to opt for might depend on different factors. 

If most of your work revolves around email, and your company is all about paperless culture, this will definitely be the way to do it. 

Also, a lot of people decide to go the email route because they don’t want to face the uncomfortable talk with their boss, but you should know that this is considered necessary, and in the long run, it’s the best route to go with. 

Resignation Letter Format

Are you struggling with how to format a resignation letter? Try to follow the advice below and you’ll have a good looking and formatted resignation letter in no time. 

  • First Paragraph – The first paragraph should consist of your statement that you have decided to leave the company, a date that resignation will take effect, and possibly your reasoning behind it. 
  • Second Paragraph – Now, take the opportunity to be thankful to your employer for the opportunities provided on your job. 
  • Final Paragraph – This paragraph should be dedicated to you offering your assistance in transition and trying your best to remain on good terms with your employer. 
  • Your contact information – This is the usual; your phone number, first and last name, address and email. It’d be best if the contact information is positioned at the top, but people often put it at the bottom, which is totally fine. 
  • Closing and signature – Respectful closure and a handwritten signature, and you are done!

Are you interested in changing your Facebook Page name and username? 

You can! 

We are all aware of how much Facebook likes making changes and updating their platform, and now it’s come the time where you can change even the smallest things like Page name. 

A few years back, there was no way you could have done this but now it’s entirely possible. 

You should know; it’s really easy to change Page names. But Facebook must approve it first. 

All it takes to do this is about a couple of steps, but prior to doing that, let’s discuss something first. 

Page Name or Username

A lot of people confuse these 2 and often think they are the same thing. They are not. 

The page name is the name that is shown under your profile picture. It’s considered somewhat of a title of your page, and it’s the first thing people notice and remember about it. 

People use page names to tag in posts and photos. 

Your username, however, is what’s contained in the page URL. It’s an address or a link to your Facebook page. It is less relevant and people don’t really remember the username of each page, but since it’s used to define your page more, it is still very much relevant. 

How to Change Your Facebook Page Name

You will be amazed at how simple it is to do this. And, no, you are not the first person who is looking at how to solve this problem. Interestingly enough, when people create Facebook pages, they are often not certain about what they should use when asked to enter a Facebook page name. 

Or they make a typo. Or they have changed their business branding, and want their page to closely reflect the newly established changes. 

So, if any of this, or anything else, is the case for you, here’s how you should approach changing your Facebook page name: 

  • Log in to Facebook and go to your profile page
  • Locate About in the left sidebar.
  • You will have an ‘Edit’ option beside the name.
  • You can now enter your page name. You have 75 characters to do this. 
  • Make sure you now verify a couple of times that you’ve typed it correctly and that you are certain you want this to be your name.
  • Request change! 

It will take up to 3 days for Facebook to review and approve your request. If you haven’t entered anything that’s against Facebook TOS (like using swear words), you should be okay. It may take even a lot quicker, and I’ve heard cases where it was reviewed and approved in less than an hour. 

Getting an Error Message

I’ve had several people tell me they weren’t able to edit their page using this simple method. That might be the case, for several different reasons. The one that’s most common is that you or someone else has already changed page name in the last 7 days. You won’t be able to change your page name again for at least 7 days. 

This is Facebook rule, as they consider it’s uncommon and spammy for someone to keep changing the name so often. 

A reason that happens often enough is that you might not have proper admin and editing privileges. 

What Happens When People Search for Your Old Facebook Name

You are probably afraid that people will remember you and your brand by its old name, and then once they search for you, you won’t appear there.

Rest assured, Facebook took care of it. If someone actually searches for your old Facebook page name, they will be able to see it listed, but once they click on it, Facebook will redirect them to your page with a new name. 

Over time, Facebook algorithms will adjust, and once someone types your old page name, Facebook will instantly offer your updated name in search results. 

How to Change Facebook Page Username

Now that you have established a Facebook Page name, it’s time to change your page username. Again, this one is extremely simple and easy to do. 

If you have never changed your page username before, and it stayed the same, it most likely looks something like this: 

www.facebook.com/facebook-page-name-548481318418

Not very attractive, you would agree. This is because the username is automatically generated by the Facebook algorithm to avoid having issues with duplicates. 

The rule that existed up to a few months ago is that a page username could only be changed twice, before being locked on that choice permanently. Facebook has now lifted such restriction, and you could change your username multiple times, if you decide it’s needed. 

Again, in a few simple steps, I will explain how to change your username.

  • Log in to Facebook and go to your Page. 
  • Again, click on About on the left sidebar.
  • Click Edit, that’s located next to the username. 
  • For page title, you had an option to enter 75 characters. For username, you only have 50, so you use them wisely. 
  • Unlike for Page titles, the username must be entirely unique.
  • If your username is available, click create a username. 

Getting an Error Message

Same as with page titles, there are certain rules that might keep you from getting the username you had in mind. 

As already mentioned, the username must be unique. It must contain only alphanumeric characters and/or a period. 

Also, it must be at least 5 characters long, and can’t be longer than 50. It can’t contain any extensions like .com, .net.

Only admin users have the privilege of changing this information, and it must not violate Facebook TOS.

Amazon reviews can make or break your business. Nobody likes to face the consequences and impact of negative reviews. That’s why you need to know how to edit your negative Amazon reviews. 

If you take a look at any Amazon product listing, you are probably gonna see it has at least one negative review. 

Amazon is a huge marketplace that offers services like no other place on the entire world wide web. It has plenty of options for Amazon sellers and is widely contributing to sellers in their mission to optimize and run their businesses through Aamzon platform.

It also has a firm set of policies that you must oblige. Negative reviews could be a consideration for a suspension of your Amazon sellers account, therefore, you will to watch out for these and make sure you have a quick reaction.

What Can You Do? 

First of all, start by analyzing the negative review that you got. What does it say? Where does it come from? Is it truthful, honest and accurate? 

Negative Amazon reviews can be a huge help as well. If you can see people complaining about the quality or functionality of your product, it might be a good time to do a quality control, and make sure you are actually producing something people are happy to purchase. 

However, sometimes your product may be perfect for a bunch of customers, but fail to please those who had different expectations. 

These are some of the things you can do to edit your Amazon reviews. 

Stop Panicking

Getting a negative amazon review is no reason to panic. Take a deep breath, relax and start reading the review. First things to look at are: 

  • Does this review come from a buyer or a competitor of mine? It’s not strange for competition to try and sunk your product, so be prepared for that to happen. 
  • Why is this buyer unsatisfied? 
  • Is there anything in the review that’s against Amazon’s Terms of Service? 

Report the Review to Amazon

There will be cases where buyers will be mentioning issues that are outside of your control like delayed shipping or box being worn out. Make sure you report these kind of reviews, and Amazon will happily remove them from your product listing. 

Also, any use of dirty words is against Amazon’s TOS, so you are free to report that as well, and you have a 100% chance of getting it removed. 

As mentioned earlier, competitors often leave bad reviews on your product listing to try and sink your product sales, and this is obviously against the rules.

The issue with this one is that it’s extremely hard to prove, unless you have some evidence, therefore removing such review has a low chance of succeeding. 

Most of the time, however, a review will actually be a buyer’s review, so let’s see what we can do about that. 

Contact the buyer

As Amazon doesn’t provide buyer’s personal information like their email, you will need to resort to third party apps and software that are built to extract this kind of info. This is not a 100% bulletproof method of finding an email and dealing with it, but there’s a chance you will be able to succeed at it anyway. 

If you contact the buyer, try to be positive, uplifting and help find out more on how you can help their experience with your product. Bribing them is against the rules, but Amazon sellers often take a chance to send another product for free as an apology to the customer, and ask them to consider replacing a 1-star negative reviews due to the fact it can damage your reputation. 

Often, people will realize that manufacturing mistakes happen, and if you do what’s in your power to remedy that, they will be happy to change their review. 

Deal With It Publically

Most people would think that ignoring the review is more effective than actually responding and dealing with it. But that only shows to other potential buyers that what the review says is true and you are avoiding it as you don’t have anything to say. 

If the review is truthful, try to remedy damage by apologizing, and promising to resolve the issue with the product, and that you are happy to send a replacement. 

Communication With Customers 101

There are a couple of tips we must share on how to communicate with customers, so you don’t get suspended or damage your reputation. 

  • Never try to insult or argue with the customer. Remember, customer is always right. 
  • Don’t force the customer to change the review. This will get you suspended really quickly. 
  • Don’t offer bribes or compensation to change the review. A lot of sellers send gifts of apologies, but that shouldn’t be seen as an incentive or you will be suspended. 
  • While dealing with a customer, be respectful, polite and friendly. 
  • As mentioned earlier, try to let customers know how important positive reviews are to your business. If they realize that consequences to your business are huge, they are likely to change their review or remove it.

  • Video length – A maximum of 90 seconds to capture your audience’s attention, with a minimum of 20 seconds.
  • Text centered – A great tip a lot of people forget about. Making your text centered makes a whole world of difference. 
  • Facebook cover video size is 828px by 315px, while a minimum cover video size is 820px by 312px.

However, while it is simple, it may take time for you to build your portfolio of photography as well as find what works and what not. There are photos that have sold over a million copies! 

This is, of course, a rare occurrence and most photos never get downloaded more than several times, so being consistent in publishing photos and trying to identify what sells the best is crucial to your success. 

Also, it suffices to say that your photos must be of high quality and properly purposed towards a specific niche.

Why You Must Respond? 

Building a successful career is a lot about knowing people and making the right connections. Basically, networking. 

Even though you might not see that a job rejection is an opportunity to network, it actually is. Just because they didn’t chose you as the right person for the job, it doesn’t mean they don’t value your qualities. It doesn’t even mean they don’t think you are right for the job.

Be Honest

If you feel disappointed that you didn’t get the job, make sure you let the employer know how you feel. This doesn’t mean you should play the ‘blame game’, and tell them they made a mistake. No one likes hearing that. 

Just express your genuine disappointment that you didn’t get to fill the position at their company. Try to keep the positive tone of your entire job rejection email. 

Express Gratitude

Make sure you let them know that an opportunity to apply and have a chance to learn about their company has meaning to you. Thank them for their time, and thank the hiring manager for going out of their way to let you know their decision. 

Expressing gratitude is a good way to start an email, but keep it short. You do not want to sound dishonest. 

Ask for Feedback

Can they let you know why you were not the right person for the job? Keep in mind that this part of the email is not necessary; many of the job rejection letters already contain some of the information on why you are not selected.

This piece of advice is specifically applicable to student graduates or interns. A lot of employers are not willing to give a chance to someone who’s new as they may seem unreliable. 

If you send a job rejection letter and word it well, it shows that you have the maturity to deal with rejection, that you are professional and that you are willing to work on improving yourself.

Show Interest

If you manage to keep your emotions in check, and realize that the decision to not hire you isn’t personal, you will be in a much better position. If you ask for feedback and additionally even let them know that even though you were rejected, you still have an interest in working for them. 

It also confirms to the employer that you have not secured a position elsewhere and that you are open to hearing about future open positions at their company. 

What Not To Say When You Don’t Get a Job

A job rejection reply is not the place to show negativity, play the ‘blame’ game or insult anyone. It will just show how immature you are, and that they have actually made the right call by not hiring you. 

The effects of that would be a lot bigger for your self-confidence than for anything else. Once your emotions cool off and you realize that besides not getting a job, you also sent an aggravating email, you will feel terrible. 

If your plan is not to send a professional and positive email, then better not to send it at all.
